2022 COABE Highlights
Dear VAACE Members,
Past President, Amy Shockley, and Rachel Ambrose had the opportunity to attend the 2022 COABE conference in Seattle last week. Together they have created a list of workshop highlights that includes resources, recorded presentation links and in some cases handouts and presentation slides. Click HERE
The highlights we would like to share with you especially are:
The Digital Equity Act explicitly covers individuals who are English learners and have low levels of literacy. After doing a little research, we now know, our Governor recently signed into law HB1265 and SB716, which directs the Virginia Office of Broadband to develop a plan, to be known as the Commonwealth Digital Affordability and Cost Effectiveness Plan, to access federal funding under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This is expected to happen mid-May.
LINCS https://lincs.ed.gov/ is a FREE resource for anyone to access. The LINCS Learner Center has great resources for students and teachers.
Adult Learners can have FREE COABE membership with all member benefits.
If there are others who attended COABE and would like to share their highlights, please email Rachel.ambrose@nn.k12.va.us or ashockley@es.vccs.edu with your list and we will make updates as they come in.
