Open Discussion on Serving Internationally Trained Professionals

Please use this Zoom link to register. If your program or region has an ESOL or IELCE program/classes, it would be great if at least one person could attend the meeting!

During this discussion, we will share some new resources/guidance on this topic from OCTAE, but we will mostly be hoping to hear from you all on how you are identifying and serving these learners as well as what challenges or questions you have around this topic. Our goal is to offer some more targeted PD on this topic in the fall based on what we hear during this discussion!

In addition, we have also extended this invitation to refugee and immigrant serving organizations through the Office of New Americans. Employment and employment training are part of their service requirements as well, so it will be helpful to hear how we can support each other in these initiatives.

Along these same lines, I wanted to share a recent Migration Policy Institute policy brief that addresses the role that immigration can play in addressing current and future labor shortages. This research provides important data to support initiatives around targeted educational programming for ITPs.
