VDOE Seeking Candidates for a Virtual VA Work Group
Dear Program Managers and Specialists,
We are seeking adult education practitioners with interest, experience, and expertise to serve as subject matter experts on the Virtual Virginia Work Group. Applications for the group must be submitted by noon on Tuesday, November 22.
The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center (VALRC), through a cooperative agreement with the Virginia Department of Education, invites interested adult education practitioners to participate as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in a Work Group on utilizing the Virtual Virginia adult education courses. See Director's Memo 40-21. The statewide Virtual Virginia SME Work Group will provide diverse, local-level voices to inform how we can best support the adoption and integration of the Virtual Virginia courses into our distance education offerings for adult learners. We are seeking applicants with experience in designing and teaching quality online courses for adult learners at the adult education or community college level.
The five-person work group will participate in a series of four 90-minute virtual meetings (dates TBD) between November, 2022 and early spring 2023. Each participant will:
Prepare for each meeting by reviewing chosen Virtual Virginia courses within the given timeframe.
Discuss alignment between the content of the modules and adult education learning standards, the College and Career Readiness Standards and provide detailed written feedback.
Develop guidance for other adult education practitioners to utilize and customize the courses for their unique teaching and learning situations.
Identify areas for further additional professional development and training to support the field’s adoption and customization of the online courses.
In recognition and as a token of participation in this effort, VALRC will provide an honorarium of $400 to each SME.
Interested practitioners should complete this form by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by Monday, November 28.
